Stephen and Donald welcome invitations from institutions, music societies, conferences and festivals internationally to share their work, which is ongoing. The ideal format of these events would comprise a combination of the following:
a) a lecture demonstration (Donald Bousted with examples played by Stephen Altoft)
b) a recital (Stephen Altoft, microtonal trumpets; Donald Bousted, electronics)
c) workshop performances of students' microtonal compositions
The recital could be of lunchtime length (40 mins to an hour), or a full evening recital. Suggested works are as follows:
Christopher Fox (UK): Klaxonik (just intonation)
Jean Philippe Calvin (FR): Flux II (quarter-tone)
Oded Ben-Tal (ISR): Still Life (with live electronics) (quarter-tone)
Donald Bousted and Gary O'Connor (UK): Slide
The Yasser Collection (19 pieces in 19-div by various composers)
Richard Glover Ruptures (48-div)
Scott McLaughlin Torsion (48-div)
Chris Bryan Repetition and Spontaneity (48-div)
Sohrab Uduman Ausruf (with live el) (48-div)
Lectures can be delivered in English or German.
Stephen and Donald are prepared to be flexible about pricing. Ideal fees are 800 UK pounds for a lecture/demonstration and recital plus travel and accommodation if appropriate. However, these fees can be reduced if a number of venues in a particular country or area can be co-ordinated.
Stephen also has a full microtonal programme with percussionist Lee Ferguson (duo Contour) featuring a MalletKat (MIDI marimba) controlled with the microtonal software LMSO. Enquiries should be made to:
